Web Development Manager

Description:

In the position of Web Development Manager you will be overall responsible for the development and implementation of our clients Group Web Systems, which includes the public web sites, customer and vendor extranets, Managed Services and Cloud platform. You will also be
responsible for a new business idea which is currently still under wraps.

You will be part of the Business Systems team, which is responsible for
delivering state of the art Business Systems to the our worldwide offices.

Although the role is based in the UK, you will be working closely with colleagues all over the world and make sure the team meets their expectations and the expectations of our customers and vendors. This might involve occasional international travel.

Your daily role will be to lead the development, deployment, testing and overall quality control program in the area of web systems. You will lead a small but focused and experienced team of developers to deliver high quality and well performing web applications that are crucial to the future of our business.

This role requires an enthusiastic and energetic self-starting individual who has first class communication skills, is a good team player with a hands-on approach and an eye for detail. Our ideal candidate has a proven track record of success and inspiring and leading a web development team and will be a highly technical individual.

Specific Objectives
  • To lead the developments of all web projects hands-on
  • To progress and enhance the current roadmap for our future systems
  • To co-ordinate future wish lists and requirements and to prioritise them where appropriate
  • To carry overall responsibility of overall quality of our systems
  • To interface with colleagues regarding enhancements to other relevant and integrated systems
  • To carry responsibility for the day-to-day team management
  • To lead by example

 

Skills/Experience Required
  • 5 years+ web development experience, preferably in different technologies
  • Experience of managing software lifecycles.
  • Solid all-round technical ability
  • Quick at learning and adopting new technologies
  • QA experience
  • Ability to translate requirements into architectural concepts
  • Strong focus and leadership abilities
  • A keen interest in bringing technological advancement into the daily work
Desirable Knowledge

As the role has a strong dependency on many other systems, we are especially keen to speak to you if you also have experience of the following:
  • Development in Adobe ColdFusion with any MVC framework
  • Mid-range ERP and CRM systems
  • Web infrastructure skills including Apache and High Availability products
  • Web Security and best practice knowledge
  • Unit testing experience
  • Experience of quality control systems and version management (svn, Git)
